NXT Championship (Ladder Match)
Kevin Owens vs Finn Balor
When we look back at 2015 and vote for “Match of the Year” Kevin Owens will probably have been involved in seven of them. This will be #4 and SummerSlam will be #5. “Mr. Wrestling” is working a heavy load this weekend with this brutal match with Balor and with Cesaro the following night at SummerSlam. I expect Owens to put Balor over again as Owens is now a main roster staple and Balor losing the belt after a month would do more harm than good for his proper build. This will be a 5* match and a fantastic way to close out what will be another fantastic NXT PPV.
NXT Tag Team Title Match
-The Vaudevillians vs Blake and Murphy
The Vaudevillians should be champs just because they’re so damn entertaining. Blake and Murphy winning the titles was a shock when it happened and they’ve had an impressive title reign. Their reign got even better when they added the smoking hot Alexa Bliss as their manager. The Vaudevillians have a plan to stop Alexa Bliss from costing them the titles again, but who could it be? I think they debut a newer female, personally, but the pop Blue Pants would get would be awesome!
NXT Women’s Title Match
-Bayley vs Sasha Banks
Only thing that will shock me on this PPV is if Sasha retains. They have built this Divas Revolution up on the main roster so much that Sasha has to make the move up there for good. Bayley was in line to be a part of that revolution but injuries set her back. Bayley will be the new face of the women’s division in NXT as they bring in the NXT wave of talent.
-Jushin “Thunder” Liger vs Tyler Breeze
The Man. The Myth. The Legend. Jushin “Thunder” Liger is finally going to be in a WWE ring! This is a lifelong wait for me. Liger is my all time favorite in ring performer of all time. The man pioneered the Cruiserweight division and even as he aged (he’s 50 now) he learned to adapt and become more sound technically. Liger will obviously put over “Prince Pretty” and I’m ok with that. I am just excited to see Liger one time in the largest promotion.
-Samoa Joe vs Baron Corbin
I want Corbin to succeed. I want Corbin to stop squashing people with his awesome finisher. I don’t want Corbin to beat Samoa Joe. Joe needs this win because he is Samoa Joe and he is a big deal. NXT losing Owens to the main roster leaves a perfect spot for Joe to fill in and he should be booked as such. Joe probably wins by submission here.
-Bull Dempsey vs Elias Samson
I have no idea what is going here. Bull Dempsey might win this match. Or, Bull Dempsey will continue to be laughed at for being “fat”. I wish they went back to the Bull Dozer gimmick because Dempsey has the potential to be the next Bam Bam Bigelow type heel.
-Apollo Crews vs Tye Dillinger
UHAA NATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can’t tell me how excited I am to finally see him in NXT. Even though I hate the name Apollo Crews, it is still UHAA NATION!!!!!!!!!!!! Obviously, he’ll win his debut match and although Tye Dillinger is awesome, the athletic ability that Crews will show the world is better than Dillinger. Maybe we see All Out Assault? And his finisher might still be the Uhaa Combination. Can’t wait for this debut.
-Eva Marie vs Carmella
Yes, I know…Everyone hates Eva Marie…I don’t…I can see her being the face of all the Divas if she can fix her in ring work. Just look at her. Her wrestling is bad but it is improving. But her looks are easily tops in the company. Time will fix in ring ability if she’s willing. I expect her to beat Carmella here because Eva is going to be pushed to the moon as the underdog trying to overcome. Sliced Bread #2 anyone?
